Grand Dance Drama: Red Poppies

With the China Merchants Charitable Foundation (CMCF) as Title Sponsor, the Grand Dance Drama Red Poppies was presented at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre from 7 to 9 June 2019. Several hundreds of students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities were invited to enjoy the matinee performance on 8 June, including a primary school from Shenzhen.
Ms Ivy Deng, Senior Project Officer of China Merchants Charitable Foundation Limited, delivered a welcome speech and gave words of encouragement to the students.

Featuring Tibetan music and singing as well as colourful tribal costumes, the spectacular dance drama Red Poppies swept the audiences off their feet!

At the post-show Meet-the-Artist session, the creative team told the students how the dance drama was conceptualized and staged.
Many students were curious about the creative process and keen on asking questions.
A group of primary school students, who came all the way from Shenzhen, were thrilled by the theatre experience
-- it is the first large-scale performance they have ever watched at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
