Eligibility Children who are interested in dance Applicants should have received dance training for one year or above Applicants should have received dance training for two years or above, with stage experience is preferred
Admission Applicants need to attend and pass an audition conducted by Hong Kong Dance Company before being admitted
Students who have completed the whole year course of elementary class; with good attendance and progress; and approved by tutors can be promoted to the Children’s Troupe. Qualified students who have not reached age 6 on 1 Sep 2023, will be promoted to the preparation class of Children’s Troupe (class duration: 2 hours)
Content of Audition

1. Appearance and body condition assessment

2. Body flexibility

3. Imitability of movement

4. Sole performance (1 minute)
(1 minute of solo dance piece or any other kinds of performance to demonstrate participant’s ability, no music is needed. Tutor will gives compatible beats for the performance)

3. Imitation (Chinese ethnic dance / Chinese classical dance)

4. Sole performance (2 minutes)
(2 minutes of solo dance piece or any other kinds of performance to demonstrate participant’s ability, no music is needed. Tutor will gives compatible beats for the performance)

Please bring along your dance clothes, shoes and props etc. (if applicable). If you do not have proper dance clothes and shoes, please wear sportswear for the audition.

Applicants will be divided into groups in audition. Please refer to the ‘audition invitation letter’ for individual exam time slot (to be sent via email in late-May 2022)

Fee Children’s & Youth Troupes: HK$10,000 per head annually
Elementary Class: HK$8,000 per head annually
Note: The fee will be adjusted according to market price
The fee will be collected in two installments (1st semester Sep 2022 – Feb 2023, 2nd semester Mar-Aug 2023)
The fee includes regular course tuition fee, 1-year prestige membership of ‘Friends of HKDC’, tickets (1 adult + 1 student) of HKDC selected production

Extra fees will be charged for joining annual performance
Qualification for joining annual performance: students who have been trained in the Children’s Troupe for the second year, with good attendance and learning progress (all students of elementary class and Children’s Troupe members of first year will not join the annual performance)


Dance Talent Scholarships
Students with talent for dance may apply for the Dance Talent Scholarships to join HKDC’s Children’s and Youth Troupes. Details are as follows:
• This is a one-year scholarship and would be renewed annually. Number of scholarships to be confirmed.
• The scholarship will cover tuition fees, expenses for dancewear and shoes for classes and performance costumes.
• Free tickets for the students and parents to attend three HKDC performances every year.
• At the end of the term, the students will be assessed to determine if they are eligible for renewal of the scholarships, upon approval by the sponsor.

The Scholarships support students with financial needs only. Original or duplicate of the following supporting documents should be provided along with the application forms to prove that the applicants or their families are recipients of:
• Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (duplicate) or
• School Textbook Assistance (full or half grant) (duplicate), or
• A letter of recommendation signed and stamped by the student’s school principal or the supervisor of a social welfare organization, stating that the student is from a low-income family in need of financial assistance (original copy)
